Organizations Overview | The Chiba Symphony Orchestra, the only professional orchestra in Chiba Prefecture, was renamed the Chiba Symphony Orchestra in October 2016 in the form of 31 years of activities of the New Philharmonic Orchestra Chiba, and is now in its 33rd year. We perform at about 20 concerts every year, including regular concerts, prefectural arts theaters, and concerts in various places, in an effort to promote the spread of music culture in Chiba Prefecture. In addition, for the next generation of children, we hold about 50 elementary, junior and senior high school music appreciation classes every year, co-sponsored by Chiba Prefecture and the municipal board of education, and continue to convey the wonders of music by performing at more than 150 concerts a year, including visiting performances at kindergartens and special needs schools, and various chamber music. From April 2016, we invited Kazufumi Yamashita as music director and started a new challenge with the "Oramachi Orchestra." Fresh and enthusiastic performances have gained support from many Chiba residents, and we are steadily building our position as an orchestra that is familiar and loved by the citizens of Chiba Prefecture. |
