Detailed Information

Performance content Vincent van Gogh, who lived with miners as an evangelist in a poor Belgian coal mining town, was dismissed from his job as a dispatched pastor of the Evangelistic Society for participating in the miners' strike. Determined to lose his job and become a painter, Van Gogh moved to The Hague, the capital of the Netherlands, where he met and began living with Cine, a model woman and prostitute, but Mauve, who was also a painter, opposed the marriage and sentenced him to be isolated. The only person who comforts Van Gogh, who has also been left by Sinu, is his brother Theo, who was the only one who understands.
Van Gogh moved to Paris with Theo, an art dealer, and deepened his friendship with young Impressionist painters, such as Lautrec, Bernard and Signac, in Tanguy's shop, and developed a deep respect and admiration for Gauguin. Suffering from the difficulty of painting with new expressions of color and light that had never been seen before, Van Gogh was exhausted and wasted his nerves, and left the city and moved alone to Arles in the south of France. Van Gogh, who creates works one after another as if obsessed with nature, begins to live with Gauguin, whom he has been waiting for. However, although they respect each other in their hearts, they clash with each other.
One day, Van Gogh witnesses his beloved tavern girl Rachelle on Gauguin's lap. Lovers, pictures, drinks, civilizations, gods, morals, and... Confusion. After repeated disputes and antagonism, his friend Gorgan quietly leaves the room. In self-reflection and madness, Van Gogh put a razor to his ear...

Remarks
Organizations Overview The troupe was formed in February 1942 (Showa 17) during the war by nine members, including director Takashi Sasaki and actress Mitsue Suzuki, and in 1945 they traveled to former Manchuria (northeastern China) to introduce contemporary theater of the Japan, where they lost the war. This is the history of our company, and even after the death of the founding members, the pain, resentment, and remorse have been passed down as pillars of the company's creation. In addition, from this difficult experience, we have consistently created works from the "perspective" of consumers, always staying close to the feelings of the socially vulnerable, which can be said to be a song of support for working people.
In 1982, he pioneered a new side with "Echigo Tsukuishi Chishichi" by Tsutomu Mizukami and directed by Koichi Kimura, and won the Grand Prize of the Agency for Cultural Affairs Arts Festival and the Kinokuniya Theater Award for Ai Sasaki, and from 1987 to the present day, Ai Sasaki, the only daughter of Takashi and Mitsue, has served as the head of the theater company.
In recent years, the direction of its creation has diversified, and new challenges have begun.
In 2008, he won the Grand Prize of the Agency for Cultural Affairs Arts Festival for "Tekeretsupa". In 2013, Akihiro Fujiwara, who starred in the stage adaptation of Kazuki Kinjo's original GO, which was also made into a movie, won the Agency for Cultural Affairs Art Festival Newcomer Award. In 2018, we received the 53rd Kinokuniya Theater Awards Group Award for the stage achievements of Juro Miyoshi's Yumetachi, Ken Miyamoto's Reaction Process, and Maha Harada's Thorn of the Sun. For each of the works, our theater company actively approached outside directors who are active on the front lines, and in 2019, we asked Tamiya Kuriyama to direct "Anima no Umi - Michiko Ishimure "From the Pure Land of the Bitter Sea," which was very well received from various quarters.
While striving to prevent infection under the coronavirus pandemic, we continue to protect the light of culture and the arts by continuing to create ambitious works, such as "Fly, Daddy, Fly" by Kazuki Kinjo in August 2020, "Hannah's Bag" in January 2021, "The Harp of Burma" (Actor's Theatre) by Michio Takeyama in April 2021, and "Children's Time" by Lillian Hellman in October.
