Organizations Overview | The Aomori Prefectural Museum of Art exhibits many works by unique artists with local connections such as Yoshitomo Nara's "Aomori Dog," Shiko Munakata, Toru Narita, and Noboru Baba, in a unique building designed by Jun Aoki inspired by the adjacent Sannai-Maruyama Ruins, and disseminates the artistic climate of Aomori Prefecture to the world. In addition, there is a huge four-story atrium space Aleko Hall that exhibits the stage background painting of the ballet "Aleko" by Marc Chagall, a leading painter of the 20th century. In addition to the first, second, and fourth acts owned by the museum, the stage background painting of "Aleko" is currently borrowed from the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and all four works can be viewed at the museum. In addition to fine arts, we also develop performing arts activities such as music, movies, and theater that make use of the characteristic space. |
